long time ago, i met a man named Andong, he is a surfer from Pangandaran. actually i do not know if it’s his real name or not and as far as i know, his main job is life guard. he has a sturdy body, blond hair and black skin. he was the first person who taught me how to surf, riding waves. we used a long board for the very first time. i always felt nervous every time i wear my legrope.
he said the way my foot standing on a board is goofy, the condition when i keep my right foot forward. i also learned how to paddling in the sea until my arm was cramping then i realized i was already quite far from the beach. at noon he had asked me ride a bike about 15 minutes while holding the surf board to the beach where the stream is the strongest. my hands was very sore because the surf board is really heavy for me! after arrived, i was overwhelmed by the waves and chose to sit on the beach waiting for him to finish surfing. in the night we had more laughing, telling stories and singing reggae songs as beach boy’s favorite. there are also a Leo, Banteng, and Dani, my other ‘cool’ friends.
it has been 4 years i’ve never met him again. the last news i knew he was married. very pleased to hear that. sometimes, i think it was nice to grow and live on the beach. forever young.

and in high seas or low seas,
i’m gonna be your friend,
i’m gonna be your friend.
said, high tide or low tide,
i’ll be by your side,
i’ll be by your side.
